The name Antarctica was coined to mean "opposite to the Arctic". Antarctica is a high, ice-covered landmass. While in the Arctic, the landmasses are grouped around the ice-covered Arctic Ocean. Because of this difference, the climate of the two areas is very different. Antarctica is the coldest area in the world. On the average, it is about 30 degrees colder than the Arctic. Partly because of this climatic difference, the land animals and plants of the two regions are very different. In Antarctica, there are very few plants. While in Arctic, there are many plants. Penguins populate Antarctica coastlines but do not exist in the Arctic. The land animals of the Arctic are foxes, bears, reindeer, and lemmings. Ice is the great feature of Antarctica. If this great volume of ice were to melt, the volume of the world oceans would increase, and sea level would rise.

In about 1980, there was a new approach to agriculture called "Green Revolution". It involved the large-scale cultivation of new type of grain, and the extensive use of chemicals and farm machinery. Actually, this method is intended to increase food production to keep up with population growth. But it seems not to be successful. There are some reasons for this. One reason lies in the expense of the new farming methods. Farmers must use large amounts of expensive chemical fertilizers. They also need to use expensive chemical insecticides since the new grains are more easily damaged by insects. Expensive watering systems are also necessary for these grains, especially in drier areas. As the result, many farmers can not afford to buy all the chemicals and equipments. Finally, it can be concluded that the methods of Green Revolution do not meet the needs of the world's hungry people. So, goverments and farmers need to find another solution to solve the above problems.

Nowadays, internet is very popular with young people (youth). Most of them spend a lot of time in surfing the net. They feel that the internet has brought a lot of advantages. Internet affects young people not only in positive side but also in negative side.
There is no doubt that the internet has good influences in improving young people’s knowledge. It keeps everyone informed. With few minutes each day, we can update necessary news. Moreover, more and more youth use the internet to search information for their work or their study. They can also learn much about cultures, history, geography, etc through abundant source on the internet.
On the other hand, there are three negative influences of the internet on young people. Firstly, the over use of computer brings the bad physical effects. Some people harm their eyes by sitting front of the screen for a long time without rest. Other diseases such as stomachache, headache and back pain are easy to suffer. Furthermore, the internet seems separate youth from the real world. Although they usually update news or current affairs, their face-to-face communications are very poor. They communicate with others throughout websites like Yahoo, Friendster, and Facebook instead of going out with family or meeting friends. Therefore, young people can loss their sensibilities in relationships or have difficulty in real communication. In additions, a lot of website is not good for people to see, especially teenagers. For example, many more websites which can’t be censored contain incorrect information, violence, sexy films, videos, and many more.
In conclusion, besides improving our knowledge, I think that the internet increasingly affect in bad ways both physical and emotional. It is up to us whether to use the internet to improve our knowledge or use it to destroy our emotion and even our body.

Ada sesuatu yang unik pada handphone Nokia CDMA, Anda bisa memunculkan menu tambahan pada handphone Nokia CDMA Anda. Caranya adalah, tekan nomer di bawah ini pada handphone Anda:

Maka secara otomatis akan masuk ke menu NAM Program. Di sana Anda bisa menemukan banyak setting tersembunyi. Tekan panah ke bawah sampai Anda menemukan menu Field Test, kemudian tekan select dan akan muncul dua pilihan.
Enabled (Untuk memunculkan menu NetMonitor)
Disabled (Untuk menghilangkan menu NetMonitor)
Pilih Enabled, kemudian pilih Exit. Untuk melihat hasilnya, restart (matikan dan hidupkan lagi) dulu handphone Anda.
Jika sudah direstart, Anda akan menemukan menu baru yaitu NetMonitor pada menu terakhir di handphone Anda.
Untuk mencobanya, masuk ke menu yang baru saja kita munculkan tadi, kemudian masukkan angka 3101 dan tekan OK maka akan terlihat informasi-informasi tentang jaringan penyedia jasa telekomunikasi CDMA yang sedang kita pakai.

Jika Anda membuka situs-situs besar seperti www.download.com, www.softpedia.com, dan www.tucows.com, maka Anda akan menemukan banyak sekali program (software) yang bisa didownload secara gratis alias freeware. Kemudian banyak orang yang ingin menjadi pahlawan dengan menyediakan free software. Bahkan perusahaan seperti IBM, Novell, dan Canonical juga membuat free software. Kalau Anda tidak membuat free software, Anda sekarang sulit mendapat teman.
Kenyataannya tentu tidak sesederhana itu. Pembuatan free software mirip dengan kegiatan charity dan punya lika-liku dan intrik bisnis yang mirip juga. Ada broker (individu maupun corporate), ada motivasi politik, dan ada strategi untuk tetap mendapatkan keuntungan finansial. IBM mungkin menyubsidi software gratisnya lewat penjualan hardware.
Richard Stallman, berpendapat bahwa software harus gratis karena software hanyalah seperti sebuah resep dan bahwa tidak etis untuk merahasiakan resep. Sementara Bernaridho, dalam tulisannya di PC Media 03/2009 menyatakan ketidaksetujuannya terhadap klaim Stallman bahwa orang yang tidak menggratiskan software adalah kriminal.

Bandingkan dengan Jepang yang sangat merahasiakan teknologi baterai, energi, dan mobil elektronik/hibrida/hidrogen. Dengan cara itu, Toyota sangat berjaya dalam penjualan mobil dan teknologi "hijau", sementara GM, Chrysler dan Ford harus minta uang dari Pemerintah AS karena bangkrut.
Perusahaan dan individu AS dan Eropa juga melakukan terlalu banyak charity (aksi amal) ke negara-negara yang penduduknya tetap memiliki rasa antipati kepada AS dan Eropa dengan banyak alasan. Sementara IBM (AS) melakukan banyak charity dan membuat software gratis. Lenovo (China, pembeli divisi PC IBM) tidak sangat antusias, dan lebih berhati-hati dalam keuangan.
Kejatuhan Amerika dan Eropa membuat banyak bisnis sekarang dikuasai negara-negara lain: Qatar, Emirat Arab, dan Saudi Arabia yang relatif tidak banyak menyumbang untuk free software. Kabarnya banyak aset di AS sekarang dikuasai pemerintah China, yang juga tidak banyak menyumbang untuk free software. Utang pemerintah AS sangat banyak.
"Jika saya Obama", kata Bernaridho, "saya akan mengajak rakyat saya untuk merenungkan lagi keinginan yang berlebihan untuk menjadi pahlawan. Apalagi jika akhirnya kita menjadi pengemis dan pengutang."
Kenyataannya tentu tidak sesederhana itu. Pembuatan free software mirip dengan kegiatan charity dan punya lika-liku dan intrik bisnis yang mirip juga. Ada broker (individu maupun corporate), ada motivasi politik, dan ada strategi untuk tetap mendapatkan keuntungan finansial. IBM mungkin menyubsidi software gratisnya lewat penjualan hardware.
Richard Stallman, berpendapat bahwa software harus gratis karena software hanyalah seperti sebuah resep dan bahwa tidak etis untuk merahasiakan resep. Sementara Bernaridho, dalam tulisannya di PC Media 03/2009 menyatakan ketidaksetujuannya terhadap klaim Stallman bahwa orang yang tidak menggratiskan software adalah kriminal.
"Saya", katanya, "pro bisnis dan bagi saya Steve Jobs lebih merupakan pahlawan ketimbang Linus Torvald. Steve Jobs berani untuk tidak menggratiskan karyanya di sela-sela begitu banyaknya orang yang maniak untuk menjadi pahlawan (atau karena takut?) dengan menggratiskan karyanya."

Microsoft menolak mentah-mentah pendapat peneliti keamanan, Laurent Gaffi, yang mengklaim telah ditemukan sebuah celah pada Windows Media Player 9, 10, dan 11 yang dapat menyebabkan remote code execution, penyebab hadirnya komputer zombi.Microsoft berpendapat, celah pada WMP bukan merupakan ancaman keamanan, tapi sayangnya para peneliti keamanan punya pendapat berbeda.
Pada 24 Desember 2008, Gaffi melaporkan terdapat sebuah celah pada WMP dan Gaffi mengirimkan informasi ini ke Bugtraq mailing list. Dia mengatakan, celah berbahaya ini dapat dimanfaatkan oleh hacker dengan mengunakan file audio WAV, SND, atau MID ke komputer korban yang menggunakan operating system Windows XP dan Vista. Dia juga menyertakan proof-of-concept penyerangan yang mampu mengeksekusi komputer korban dari jauh.
Klaim Gaffi segera ditanggapi dengan dingin oleh Microsoft yang mengatakan bahwa tidak terdapat celah pada WMP, hanya masalah reliabilitas. Akan tetapi, banyak peneliti keamanan yang tidak sependapat dengan Microsoft. April 2008 lalu, para peneliti keamanan menemukan celah berbahaya pada operating system Windows, dan Microsoft menganggapnya bukan celah berbahaya. Tapi ternyata, tiga minggu kemudian Microsoft mengeluarkan pernyataan mengenai celah sistem operasi ke publik.
